About We The Makers

WE THE MAKERS is a biennial festival from the National Wool Museum showcasing the work of artists, designers and makers.

Building on the success of the long running Scarf Festival, WE THE MAKERS is about the handmade, the lost textile arts and the mindfulness of making.

In 2020, we host the Designer Showcase. In 2022 we will have a different theme and a different cohort of makers. Join our mailing list to keep up to date with all the news on WE THE MAKERS DESIGN FESTIVAL.

From all of us at the National Wool Museum – keep on making.

The National Wool Museum extends big thank you to all makers, both in the Designer Showcase and the unfortunately cancelled Makers Marketplace, who submitted an entry or commenced a making project. Judges were impressed by all designs submitted, in particular by the quality of entries and the innovative use of textiles.

We look forward to returning bigger and better in 2022. Thank you to our sponsors and supporters. And thank you to the creative minds that contributed to making WE THE MAKERS over its development phase: Andrea Bruce, Georgia Melville, Joel Carnegie and Marie Allaman.
